Welcome to Naterra Recycling B.V., a cutting-edge production facility located in Ritthem, The Netherlands. Since our establishment on May 10, 2021, we have been dedicated to pioneering recycling solutions, with production commencing in Q4 2023. Our facility specialises in producing high-quality polypropylene (PP) granules, while also maintaining the versatility to manufacture polyethylene (PE) flakes from plastic scrap, catering to the growing European market. In response to the EU Directive on single-use plastics, which took effect on July 2, 2021, we recognised a significant opportunity to supply recycled plastic materials as alternatives to banned single-use items now required to be replaced. The directive not only prohibits various single-use plastics but also mandates EU member states to adopt national measures to reduce their consumption. This includes establishing separate recycling targets for plastic bottles, implementing design requirements, and introducing compulsory labels to educate consumers about plastic products. Additionally, producers are now held accountable for waste management costs, data collection, and public awareness efforts regarding specific products. These regulations were to be enacted by July 3, 2021, with product-design requirements for plastic bottles set to take effect on July 3, 2024. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that European plastics manufacturers are advocating for a mandatory EU target of 30% recycled content in plastics packaging by 2030. At Naterra, we are poised to contribute to this vision by delivering sustainable recycling solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market.
Naterra Recycling B.V. is proudly owned by Naterra Holding B.V., with Adnan Onur serving as the Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) and CEO. Adnan brings a wealth of expertise to the company, holding a degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Nottingham and an MSc in Investment and Finance from Queen Mary University in London. The roots of the Naterra Group trace back to 1983 with the establishment of Onur Plastic, one of Turkey's pioneering companies in the importation of plastic raw materials. Today, the company is managed by the second and third generations of the Onur family, whose extensive experience, industry knowledge, and robust market networks play a crucial role in enhancing the group's presence in the Plastic & Polymers industry. In addition to Naterra Recycling B.V., the group includes Naterra Trading B.V., which specializes in trading polymers, basic and industrial chemicals, and raw materials essential for plastic production. Recognizing the growing market demand for recycled products, Naterra Recycling B.V. is well-positioned to succeed, leveraging the expertise of its owners and directors alongside a solid infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
